African Tourism Partners appoints Francis Doku as Regional Representative for West Africa

Africa Tourism Partners (ATP), a leading Pan-African tourism development, business advisory, and consulting firm, has announced the appointment of Francis Doku as the new West Africa Regional Representative, effective immediately.

Doku, a highly experienced Ghanaian professional in marketing communications, media, and tourism promotion, is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening ATP’s initiatives in the region.

Expanding Tourism and Strategic Development in West Africa

ATP, a UN Tourism Affiliate Member and recipient of the UN Tourism Distinction Award, specializes in tourism development and strategic destination marketing. The firm’s expertise covers strategy formulation, master planning, and strategic marketing across the travel, tourism, hospitality, aviation, and MICE-E (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions, and Events) sectors. Through strategic partnerships and global networks, ATP continues to drive initiatives that deliver measurable and sustainable results.

Francis Doku’s Extensive Industry Expertise

With over 20 years of experience in business strategy, media innovation, and tourism development, Francis Doku’s appointment aligns with ATP’s vision to position West Africa as a global tourism and MICE-E hub.

Doku has excelled in journalism, strategic media buying, media management, digital marketing, event management, content production, and tourism promotion. As Chief Operations Officer of Digital Plugin Limited, he transformed the agency into a key player in Ghana’s digital marketing and MICE sector, securing high-profile conferences that positioned the country as a leading destination for business tourism.

His entrepreneurial expertise was evident at Maestro Africa Group, a communications consultancy he founded, where he led impactful campaigns for top brands and curated exhibitions that merged cultural storytelling with economic opportunities.

As General Manager of Adams Media Limited (Carat Ghana), Doku successfully managed media strategies for global brands such as Coca-Cola, MTN, Vlisco, and Procter & Gamble, achieving over 100% growth in annual billings through effective media planning.

Doku is also a respected travel writer, content creator, and destination marketing specialist, having worked on marketing campaigns, familiarization trips, and influencer initiatives for destinations such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Kenya, and Namibia. His deep passion for showcasing Africa’s tourism potential has significantly influenced West African travel narratives.

During his tenure as General Manager of TV3 and MG Digital under Media General, he oversaw a 40% increase in TV3’s market share and a 60% growth in digital platforms, driven by strategic content development and audience engagement.

A Vision for Regional Growth

Commenting on the appointment, Kwakye Donkor, CEO of Africa Tourism Partners, expressed confidence in Doku’s ability to drive impactful change.

“Francis embodies a unique blend of strategic vision, media expertise, and tourism knowledge. His ability to transform ideas into measurable impact, whether in destination branding or youth empowerment, aligns perfectly with our mission to establish West Africa as a key player in global tourism and economic growth,” he said.

Doku, in response, emphasized the importance of collaboration in unlocking West Africa’s tourism potential.

“Our region is rich in culture, heritage, and natural beauty, but realizing its full potential requires coordinated efforts. I look forward to working with governments, private sector leaders, and young innovators to develop a tourism ecosystem that not only attracts visitors but also uplifts communities,” he stated.

Bridging Heritage and Innovation

Doku’s appointment comes at a time when global tourism trends favor authentic and sustainable experiences. With West Africa’s cultural vibrancy, historic landmarks, and expanding MICE infrastructure, the region is well-positioned to attract international travelers.

His expertise in digital transformation and destination marketing will ensure that ATP’s initiatives resonate with modern audiences, seamlessly integrating tradition and innovation to drive growth.
