8th Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair Concludes in Accra with Call for Eco-Friendly Practices
The 8th Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair wrapped up on Sunday, November 10, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, emphasizing the need for the beauty industry to embrace eco-friendly practices to reduce its environmental impact.
The three-day event, themed the “Synergy Edition,” brought together makeup artists, beauty brands, and industry stakeholders from across Africa and beyond. It focused on fostering partnerships, innovation, and sustainability in the beauty and wellness sectors.
The fair featured a variety of activities, including live sessions, a fashion and beauty show, and the Synergy Gala Awards. The awards celebrated excellence in the industry, spotlighting brands and individuals committed to eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives.
Rebecca Donkor, CEO of Makeup Ghana and the event’s organizer, underscored the importance of adopting environmentally conscious practices within the industry. She urged African beauty and wellness brands to form global partnerships to drive the adoption of sustainable solutions.
“We have a collective responsibility to implement practices that protect our environment and ensure the long-term success of our industry,” Ms. Donkor stated. She also highlighted the role of industry leaders in inspiring positive change within their communities and beyond.
