Accra to Host Inaugural African-German Music Festival This Weekend

Ghanaian Afro-fusion band Nativ Afrik, in collaboration with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana), will host the first African-German Music Festival on October 27 at Accra’s +233 Jazz and Grill Bar. The event promises an exciting blend of African and German music, featuring live performances from Nativ Afrik alongside German artists Nick Morrison (guitar), Edith Steyer (saxophone), and Yael Gat (trumpet and flugelhorn).

This festival is part of German Days in Ghana, aiming to foster cultural ties between Germany and Ghana through a unique musical exchange.

The German musicians, who recently arrived from Berlin, will participate in collaborative sessions with Nativ Afrik, highlighting a creative exchange through both recordings and live shows.

They expressed enthusiasm about sharing in Ghanaian music and culture, emphasizing music’s universal role in bridging cultural divides. According to Nativ Afrik’s drummer and bandleader, Emmanuel Amponsah, the collaboration brings new musical ideas that inspire future creativity.

The line-up includes notable Ghanaian highlife band Westcoast Ebusua Band, solo act Mr. Brown, and additional surprise guests. Organizers see the festival as a milestone in African-German collaboration, reinforcing Ghana’s position as a hub for cultural and artistic exchange between the continents.
