GMA Europe 2025: A timeless celebration of music, culture, and excellence in Belgium

The 25th edition of the Ghana Music Awards Europe (GMAEU25) lit up Ghent, Belgium, on Saturday, September 20, 2025. It was a night filled with glitz, glamour, and thrilling performances that celebrated the finest of Ghanaian music and culture both at home and abroad.

Branded as the “Classic Night,” the event took place at the Theaterzaal Ledeberg, attracting top industry players, artists, and fans from across Europe. The red carpet opened at 7 p.m., followed by the main ceremony at 9 p.m. Once again, the GMAEU proved why it remains a leading platform promoting Ghana’s musical excellence in the diaspora.


Big Winners of the Night

Stonebwoy dominated the evening, winning Artiste of the Year. He also claimed Best Afrobeat Song with “Jejereje” and Best Reggae/Dancehall Song with “Psalm 23.” These victories reaffirmed his stronghold across different genres.

In the gospel category, Empress Gifty won Gospel Artiste of the Year, while Nana Yaa Otchere (Mz Nana) received Best Diaspora Gospel Artiste of the Year. Expressing gratitude to God, her family, and fans, Mz Nana promised to keep spreading the gospel through her music.

Rap Fada earned New Artiste of the Year, while Kwaku Smoke walked away with two honors—Best Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste and Best Rap Performance of the Year.

The Most Popular Song of the Year went to King Paluta for his hit “Aseda.” Kwabena Kwabena claimed Songwriter of the Year with “Fakye Me,” and King Promise took home Afrobeat/Afropop Song of the Year with “Paris.” Meanwhile, Fameye won Best Highlife Song for “Very Soon.”

Other top winners included Kuami Eugene for Best Highlife Artiste, Kidi ft Black Sherif for Collaboration of the Year, and Nacee for Political Campaign Song of the Year with “Asempa na Aba.”


Honoring the Diaspora

The Ghana Music Awards Europe 2025 also recognized the exceptional work of Ghanaian artists in the diaspora.

  • DJ Clif – Best Diaspora DJ of the Year

These categories highlighted the growing global reach of Ghanaian music. Moreover, they showed that talent from the diaspora continues to enrich and expand the nation’s creative influence.
