The Acting Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency, Gideon Aryeequaye, has announced plans to introduce an annual awards scheme to honour stakeholders in the creative industry.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z on Saturday, 27th September 2025, he highlighted the initiative as part of the agency’s upcoming programmes.
“The second thing we will do, which will also be annual, is the Creative Arts Awards—to recognise your work and that of others. This will not be the usual red carpet, 360-turn event. It’s going to be different—not a black-tie event. A black tie means losing our identity. Instead, you have to come in something truly outstanding, something you’ve created, something that represents you,” he told host Kwame Dadzie.
Aryeequaye also revealed plans for an annual festival that will showcase all branches of the creative arts. In addition, the agency intends to curate a dedicated programme for highlife music, which he described as a vital part of Ghana’s intangible cultural heritage.
The Creative Arts Agency’s mandate is to coordinate, regulate, and promote activities within the sector while implementing policies and initiatives that support its growth.
