Chef Abbys to Mark 2025 World Food Day with ‘Big Street Feast’ in October

Ghanaian culinary personality Chef Abbys will mark World Food Day 2025 in October with a unique food-sharing initiative dubbed the ‘Big Street Feast.’

Set for Thursday, 16th October, the streets of Accra will be filled with flavour, joy, and community spirit as thousands gather for this one-of-a-kind celebration. Food trucks and stalls will be stationed at strategic points across the city, serving meals to over 15,000 people. Guided by the rallying theme “Wherever You Are, Food Will Find You,” the event seeks to showcase the unifying power of food to nourish and inspire hope.

In a video announcement shared on social media, Chef Abbys explained:

“Millions wake up each day not knowing where their next meal will come from—not because the world lacks food but because it needs more compassion, love, and serenity. This World Food Day, we’re changing that story.”

More than a distribution initiative, the Big Street Feast is a movement. By ensuring that no one is left out, the event reminds people that food represents more than survival—it embodies joy, dignity, and togetherness.

The initiative also reflects this year’s global World Food Day theme: “Food is Our Future: Partnerships that Feed the Future.” The focus on collaboration emphasizes building sustainable, resilient, and food-secure systems.

Chef Abbys, recently featured on the 2025 TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people, continues to use food as a force for connection and change. Known for her vibrant digital presence and culinary storytelling, she also leads impactful initiatives that bring communities together through shared meals.

Organizers have invited potential sponsors and partners to be part of the Feast. Interested parties may contact Chef Abbys’ Manager, Dede Gedza, on 050 550 9712. Media partners supporting the event include Joy Prime, KSS, and 3 Extra.
