Collins’ work explores identity, heritage, and memory, weaving together Ghana’s cultural past and its evolving present. His practice often reflects on the human body as a vessel of memory, merging symbolism with contemporary techniques to present layered, thought-provoking pieces. For audiences in Ghana, this exhibition represents a rare opportunity to experience his vision in an immersive gallery setting.

The Absa L’Atelier, one of Africa’s most respected art development platforms now in its 39th year, provides Ambassadors like Collins with international exposure, mentorship, and solo exhibition opportunities across the continent. According to Absa Senior Specialist Art Curator, Dr Paul Bayliss, Collins embodies the programme’s mission to connect African stories with global audiences.

“This exhibition highlights Absa’s belief that every artist’s story matters,” Dr Bayliss noted. “Collins is not only preserving cultural memory but also shaping conversations about Africa’s future through art.”

The Mix Design Hub, a collaborative space for creatives in Accra, will host the exhibition. Its Gallery Manager, Mahmoud Brimah, described the partnership as a celebration of Africa’s artistic brilliance and a step toward fostering stronger creative communities.

Through this initiative, Absa reaffirms its commitment to being a catalyst for creativity, culture, and progress across Africa. The Gandor Collins exhibition promises to be a landmark cultural event, inspiring dialogue on memory, identity, and the power of African contemporary art.
