Final-year fashion students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi unveiled their creative collections at the 2025 Graduate Exhibition and Fashion Show. The event ran under the theme Meta-Oria, which means “beyond bounds.”

Organised by the Department of Industrial Art, the show combined a runway presentation with a sales exhibition. Students displayed a wide range of designs, moving from contemporary streetwear to elegant corporate wear.
Prof. Ebenezer Howard, Head of the Department, stressed that KNUST continues to lead innovation in design education.
“KNUST is at the forefront of innovation,” he said. “Our strength lies in turning theory into practice. We research to create, and that is what makes us different.”

He also explained that the department is aligning its curriculum with industry needs. According to him, this step will allow graduates to contribute directly to national development.
“Industry needs us, and we are here to make the change,” he added.
The exhibition attracted parents and guardians, many of whom expressed pride in their wards. Lydia, a parent, shared her excitement:
“Seeing my ward design these clothes makes me very proud.”

In addition, the organisers presented citations to individuals who supported the programme. Judge Dr. Kwabena Asubonteng commended the students’ creativity and dedication.
“Every year I see progress,” he remarked. “The designers have shown originality, creativity, styling, faith, and excellent presentation. The quality of the work tonight proves the future is bright.”
Awards crowned the evening. Constance Dontwi placed second runner-up, Evita Gado Wintima took first runner-up, and Eyram Rosemond Narteh won overall best designer. Moreover, Mary Borteley Kwao earned the Best Exhibitor Award.
