Air Ghana has announced plans to expand into domestic passenger services by the end of 2025. Having operated in the aviation industry since 1993 with a strong focus on cargo logistics, the airline’s latest move aims to enhance regional connectivity and support tourism across Ghana.
The upcoming service will connect major cities including Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, and Wagadugu, offering travelers easier access to key tourist destinations. Sites such as the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, Mole National Park, and Manhyia Palace will now be more reachable, enhancing visitor experience for both local and international tourists.

The initiative is expected to stimulate regional economies and create business opportunities for tour operators, hotels, and other tourism-related services. Areas that were once hard to access will now benefit from increased tourist traffic, helping to decentralize Ghana’s tourism economy.
Air Ghana will operate its domestic routes using Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft, known for their efficiency and comfort. The airline plans to begin with multiple weekly flights, starting with major routes such as Accra–Kumasi.
This move aligns with Ghana’s broader tourism development strategy, which emphasizes infrastructure upgrades and sustainable tourism practices. By improving connectivity and easing travel across the country, Air Ghana supports eco-conscious travel and local community involvement.
Beyond tourism, the new passenger services are expected to generate jobs in aviation, hospitality, and retail. Increased visitor numbers will benefit local artisans and small businesses, especially in tourism-focused towns and cities.
Air Ghana’s entry into the domestic passenger market also positions the airline as a growing force in Africa’s aviation industry. The move is likely to inspire similar initiatives across the continent, helping to make African destinations more accessible and connected.
Air Ghana’s planned domestic passenger flights will transform how tourists explore the country. By linking key regions and tourist hotspots, the airline is poised to boost tourism, support local economies, and reinforce Ghana’s position as a top travel destination in West Africa.
