Cedi Gains: PassionAir Slashes Fares by 10% on All Routes

PassionAir has announced a reduction of up to 10% on airfares across all its domestic routes in Ghana.

This move follows an appeal by the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, during a breakfast meeting organised by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, urging local airlines to adjust their pricing in response to the strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi against major foreign currencies.

In a statement shared on its social media platforms, PassionAir explained that the fare reduction reflects the recent gains of the cedi, especially against the U.S. dollar.

“At PassionAir, we are committed to ensuring our cherished customers benefit directly from favourable market trends. As the local aviation industry evolves, we remain dedicated to providing competitive fares that mirror these positive changes,” the statement read.

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to offering safe and affordable air travel, adding, “While maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort, we continue to make domestic flying more accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians.”
