Ghana’s vibrant cultural identity will take the spotlight in Canada this July as Ghanafest Alberta 2025 returns from July 25 to 27 in Edmonton.
The three-day celebration was officially unveiled during a press conference held on June 11, 2025, in Accra. Organisers say this year’s edition promises to be the most exciting yet, uniting the Ghanaian diaspora, Canadians, and global culture lovers for a rich showcase of Ghanaian music, food, dance, fashion, and business networking.
Guests will experience a dynamic fusion of traditional and modern Ghanaian culture, with highlights including live performances, authentic cuisine, cultural exhibitions, fashion displays, and handcrafted goods.
“Ghanafest is more than a festival—it’s a celebration of identity, pride, and unity,” said a representative of Ghanafest Alberta. “Every year, we come together to share our culture with Canada. This year, we’re going bigger, and we’re inviting everyone to be part of the movement.”
CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, urged vendors to seize the opportunity to expand their networks and improve the presentation of their products for international markets.
“We have amazing products, but packaging is key. It tells your story and must be attractive enough to stand out globally,” she noted.
Esther Araba Assabil, founder and organiser of Ghanafest Alberta, was applauded by Dr. Erieka Bennett, Head of Mission at the Diaspora Africa Forum, who described her as a model for impactful diaspora engagement.
“She is promoting Ghana through a platform that connects Ghanaians abroad while showcasing our culture to the world. Ghanafest Alberta is a great example of what collaboration between the public and private sectors can accomplish,” Dr. Bennett stated.
