Renowned Ghanaian record producer and audio engineer, Master Garzy, has shed light on what it truly means to be a music producer, emphasizing the need to master the entire music production process.

In an exclusive interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, the award-winning producer clarified that producing music goes far beyond just making beats.
“Before you call yourself a producer, you need to know how to make beats, record properly as an engineer, mix, direct, write—and possibly even sing. All of these are components of being a full-fledged producer,” he explained. “Some people are just beat makers. Others may specialize in mixing or recording—but that’s not the whole picture.”
Master Garzy noted that his edge in the industry stems from his comprehensive skillset, allowing him to oversee every aspect of the production process.
“Where I come from, I was lucky to learn everything—from beat-making to mixing—and that’s why I’m called Mix Master Garzy,” he said confidently.
He encouraged up-and-coming producers to treat their craft with seriousness and professionalism by gaining a deeper understanding of their roles.
“Some just record and assume they can mix, but that’s not always the case. There’s a big difference, and it’s time emerging producers recognize that,” he urged, advocating for a more disciplined approach to music production.
