The Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) proudly marks its 10th anniversary this year under the theme, “The Relevance of Film in Society.” As Africa witnesses rapid population growth and seeks innovative economic pathways, BSIFF highlights the transformative role of film in employment generation, investment attraction, and cultural education.

Since its inception, BSIFF has championed African cinema and creative storytelling. The 2025 edition not only commemorates a decade of influence but also reinforces its vision by unveiling a 19-member global jury. The jury is chaired by Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, former Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana and current President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association.
Mr. Sunkwa-Mills, a respected figure in Ghana’s media landscape and a member of the National Media Commission, brings deep industry knowledge to this year’s adjudication process.
Reflecting BSIFF’s growing global footprint, the jury comprises leading professionals from Africa, Europe, and North America. Their combined expertise will ensure a dynamic and fair evaluation process, enriching the festival’s international prestige.
“All credit goes to Juliet Yaa Asantewa Asante, the visionary founder of BSIFF,” Mr. Sunkwa-Mills said. “We aim to further elevate the festival’s reputation while preserving its commitment to excellence in filmmaking—across Africa and the globe.”
