Kojo PJay Named Comic Writer of the Year at 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards

Fast-rising comedian and writer Kojo PJay won Comic Writer of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards, held on Saturday, May 24 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. The event brought together some of the biggest names in Ghana’s comedy and entertainment industry.

Kojo PJay earned the award for his sharp, witty, and socially relevant comedic writing. His work stood out over the past year for its originality and ability to spark both laughter and reflection.

He wrote for The Half Serious Show, a three-time award-winning TV comedy series. The show ran for three years on GHOne TV, completing three successful seasons. His scripts played a key role in the show’s popularity and success.

In his acceptance speech, Kojo PJay paid tribute to his peers.

“This award is for every comedian who picks up a pen or types on their phone, gets on stage, and kills it,” he said.
“To skit writers and stage play writers—God bless our craft.”

On social media, Kojo shared his vision for the future. He hopes that comic writing will one day receive the same level of recognition as Songwriter of the Year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
