The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Miss Tourism Ghana pageant to promote Ghana’s tourism potential locally and internationally.
Speaking at the launch of the pageant’s 16th edition in Accra, CEO of the GTA, Mrs. Efua Houadjeto, highlighted the critical role of tourism in Ghana’s development, describing the collaboration as a significant step towards building an “eco-conscious and innovation-driven” tourism sector.

Held under the theme “The Heart of Ghana: Women Shaping a Sustainable Ghana and Bridging the Divide for a United Future for All,” the event emphasized the power of women in shaping the country’s tourism narrative.
Mrs. Houadjeto outlined GTA’s ongoing initiatives, including a green financing programme for hotels adopting solar energy, the Green Ghana reafforestation campaign, and investment appeals for eco-lodges in areas such as Mole National Park and Shai Hills. She also mentioned plans to rejuvenate key tourist attractions like the Aburi Botanical Gardens and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.
She described the partnership with Miss Tourism Ghana as pivotal to amplifying Ghana’s cultural richness and warm hospitality through the pageant’s broad reach. “This collaboration will allow us to tell our story more compellingly and draw global attention to what makes Ghana unique,” she added.
She also called on international partners to support Ghana’s efforts to become a leading tourism and investment destination in Africa, stressing the importance of initiatives such as the Black Star Experience—a cultural programme aimed at deepening connections between visitors and Ghana’s heritage.
Miss Tourism Ghana CEO, Mrs. Delphine Brew-Hammond, reaffirmed the pageant’s dedication to showcasing Ghana as a top-tier travel destination. “For over 15 years, we have empowered young Ghanaian women to become confident, culturally grounded ambassadors who represent Ghana’s values and tourism appeal globally,” she stated.
She added that participants undergo rigorous training in local culture and professional development, enabling them to support national development beyond tourism through impactful community projects. The success of this model, she noted, is evident in the international recognition many titleholders have earned.
