The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts has launched the National Heritage Photo Competition 2025, a nationwide initiative aimed at celebrating and preserving Ghana’s cultural legacy through the lens of young creatives.

Open to photographers from all 16 regions, the competition offers a platform to showcase the diverse heritage of Ghana—from historic sites and traditional attire to local cuisine and cultural practices.
Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie emphasized that the competition is not only about highlighting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, but also about empowering young Ghanaians to express their creativity.
“This is about more than just photos. It’s about national pride and giving young people the opportunity to tell the story of our heritage in a powerful, visual way,” she noted.
Participants must be 25 years old or younger, and eligible entries include photographs that capture heritage sites and cultural products reflective of Ghana’s traditions.
The competition is part of a broader effort to boost tourism and cultural exchange, and is being organized in collaboration with UNESCO, alongside support from key cultural institutions such as the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Folklore Board, National Commission for Culture, Bureau of Ghana Languages, National Theatre of Ghana, National Film Authority, and the Ghana Tourism Development Authority.

Other partners include the Pan African Writers Association, Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute, Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Creative Arts Agency, and the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre.
The National Heritage Photo Competition 2025 is poised to be a vibrant celebration of Ghana’s cultural identity and a catalyst for creative expression among the nation’s youth.
