It’s often said that when gospel artists are given a stage and a band, they’ll deliver magic—and that’s exactly what Empress Gifty did at the TGMA Nominees Xperience Concert held at the Takoradi Mall last Saturday.

The atmosphere was electric, the crowd massive. From the moment she stepped on stage, Empress Gifty captivated everyone. Backed by a skilled band, she delivered a powerful performance, blending her original songs with beloved classics. Her command of the stage, emotional delivery, and connection with the audience culminated in a rousing rendition of her new single, Watch Me—a clear highlight of the night.
She wasn’t alone in impressing the crowd. The concert featured some of Ghana’s top talents in what became a vibrant celebration of live music. For the people of Takoradi, the event served as a refreshing reminder of the beauty and energy of in-person performances.
While I had known him through his collaborations with Sarkodie and Tulenke, I hadn’t seen him live—until now. His stage presence was electric, and his performance was packed with energy and confidence. The crowd’s reaction, singing and rapping along—even to lesser-known tracks—was truly energizing.
That night, BeezTrap proved he truly deserved his Best New Artiste of the Year nomination. On my drive back to Accra the next day, I found myself looping his songs on Spotify, diving deeper into his catalogue.
Other notable acts delivered strong performances. Jupitar brought his trademark live band intensity. Kwaw Kese ignited the crowd with his “abodam” energy and his current banger Awoyo Osofo. Sista Afia wowed the audience with charisma and vocal prowess. Kuami Eugene lived up to his name with hit after hit and dynamic engagement. King Paluta earned huge applause for performances of Makoma and Aseda, the latter nominated for TGMA’s Most Popular Song.
Then came Takoradi’s very own Kofi Kinaata, who closed the night with a set filled with back-to-back hits. He warned the crowd it would be a long one—and they were ready. His finale was the perfect conclusion to a thrilling evening.
The TGMA Nominees Xperience Concert was more than just a prelude to the main awards—it was a full-blown showcase of Ghana’s musical talent. With energy, fan excitement, and memorable performances, the Takoradi edition set the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable TGMA main event on May 10th.
