President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has appointed renowned media personality and creative entrepreneur Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD) as the Director of Diaspora Affairs.
KOD confirmed his appointment on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

With a wealth of experience in fostering connections between Ghana and its global diaspora, KOD’s appointment highlights President Mahama’s dedication to strengthening ties with Ghanaians abroad, promoting investment opportunities, and enhancing cultural and economic collaborations.
Kofi Okyere-Darko is the CEO of the fashion brand Nineteen 57 and the founder of the annual fashion and music event Rhythms on Da Runway.
Born on January 13, 1978, in Winneba, Central Region, he was originally named Richard Aidoo. His father, James Aidoo, was a retired deputy director of Ghana Prisons, while his mother, Margaret Aidoo, was a founding member of the 31st December Women’s Movement.
KOD received his elementary education in Winneba before attending Nifa Secondary School in Adukrom. He later pursued studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and earned a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC).
His career began as a production assistant for a Ghana Broadcasting Corporation television program before he joined Radio Gold. He later moved to England, where he worked with renowned fashion brands such as Ted Baker and Paul Smith, before returning to Ghana to continue his career in broadcasting.
KOD has served as a presenter, events manager, and marketing manager for EIB Network’s LIVE FM and is a well-respected master of ceremonies (MC) in the entertainment industry.
