Speaking at a press launch held at the Airport West Hotel in Accra on Thursday, January 30, the CEO of DON’S Music Production, Dennis Boafo, popularly known as Don D, emphasized that the awards aim to recognize the contributions of US-based Ghanaian artistes, emerging acts in Ghana, and Ghanaian artistes in the diaspora.
He highlighted the growing influence of Ghanaian music on the global stage and urged stakeholders to support the initiative.
“The global music industry is ready for Ghanaian talent to take centre stage. We must rally behind our artistes, provide them with the necessary support, and celebrate their unique sound. Together, we can elevate Ghanaian music to greater heights on the international scene,” he stated.
The main awards ceremony is set for Saturday, August 16, at the Celebrity Theatre, Claridge Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Leading up to the event, the nominees’ announcement will take place on April 15, 2025, followed by a certificate presentation in May. Online voting will run from June 1 to June 30, 2025, while Academy and Board voting will take place on July 19 and August 2, respectively.
This year’s edition introduces two new categories: Concert of the Year and Emerging Act of the Year.
GMA-USA Board Chairman, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their unwavering support over the past five years. He acknowledged the challenges of organising such an event in today’s demanding environment but commended the team for consistently delivering a high-quality experience.
“Ghana Music Awards USA would not be here without your support. We deeply appreciate everyone, including the media, for standing with us,” he said.
Last year, King Promise, the hitmaker behind Terminator, won the prestigious Artiste of the Year award at the event held at the Grand Resort Hotel in the US.
