Yussif Issaka Jajah Named Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts

Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North Constituency, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.

Before his political career, Jajah served as a Research Fellow at the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization in Accra from 2013 to 2016. He also worked as a Consultant in Oil and Gas between 2011 and 2012, collaborating with MDPI and Goodwill International.

Born on October 21, 1979, in Bole, Savannah Region, he holds an MBA in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee, Scotland (2011), and a BSc in Accounting from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA, 2009). Additionally, he is a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana.

His appointment comes amid debates within the industry, with some stakeholders advocating for the removal of the deputy ministerial role, citing limited influence in decision-making. However, others supported the need for the position, with industry names like Rex Omar and Baba Sadiq being considered as potential candidates.

Jajah succeeds Mark Okraku-Mantey, who served in the role during the second term of the Akufo-Addo administration. He will now deputize for Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, an experienced creative professional and MP for Ketu South Constituency.
