The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Klottey Korley Assembly and the Osu Traditional Council, has officially launched the first phase of the Accra Leisure and Recreational Park, also known as Geese Park.
The park is set to feature cutting-edge amenities, including a snack shop, restaurant, event center, children’s playground, zoo, and a skating park.
Geese Park will be connected to the Asomdwoee Park in Osu, becoming a key part of the tourist attractions in the Osu area.
The event was attended by prominent figures from the tourism sector, including former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Seth Adjei Baah, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman, Koku Anyidoho, and other GTA board members and staff.
In his speech, the former Tourism Minister hailed the commissioning of the park as a major achievement for Ghana. He highlighted the important role the GTA has played in boosting tourism in Ghana over the past eight years, under the leadership of Akwasi Agyeman.
Akwasi Agyeman, the GTA CEO, shared that the GTA’s vision for tourism in Ghana focuses on showcasing the country’s rich culture and history. He also noted that the GTA, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and other organizations, has undertaken key redevelopment projects, including the Kwame Nkrumah Museum, the Nationalism Park, and the Geese Park.
