Private Actors Welfare Scheme unveiled in Accra

A new welfare scheme for Ghanaian actors was officially launched in Accra on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Accra Marriott Hotel.

The initiative, spearheaded by renowned actor and creative entrepreneur Fiifi Coleman, was developed in collaboration with Hollard Insurance. The scheme aims to tackle the financial challenges actors often face, particularly during old age or in times of illness.

During the launch, Fiifi Coleman introduced the Private Actors Welfare Scheme, emphasizing its significance in providing financial security and dignity to actors. “Today, I present to you the Private Actors Welfare Scheme. We are stepping into an era where our futures are no longer left to chance but secured by the very craft we have dedicated our lives to. This scheme represents more than just financial stability; it embodies dignity, respect, and, above all, hope,” he stated.

Fiifi further expressed his determination to end the struggles faced by actors in their later years. “No longer will we live in fear of illness or old age. No longer will we rely on charity for basic needs. Let us honor the sacrifices of our colleagues by ensuring that their journey—and ours—ends in pride, not despair. Tonight, the suffering ends. Together, we take control. When it comes to our future, we are the ones who will call, ‘camera, lights, action!’” he concluded.

Eunice Etornam Owusu, the Group Business and Partnership Manager of Hollard Insurance, was also present at the event. She engaged the actors on the operational details of the scheme.

The launch, which doubled as a dinner for the actors, brought together celebrated industry figures such as Mawuli Semevo, Akofa Edjeani, Vivian Opare, Pascaline Edwards, Ken Fiati, Oscar Provencal, George Quaye, Naa Ashorkor, Salinko, Abeiku Sagoe, Edinam Atatsi, Fred Amugi, Nii Saka Brown, and Amankwah Ampofo, among others.

Dr. Mohammed Ben-Abdallah, a distinguished playwright and lecturer, also graced the occasion and encouraged actors to embrace the welfare scheme for a better future.
