Ghana’s premier fashion and cultural showcase, Rhythms On Da Runway, returned on Saturday, November 30, 2024, with its highly anticipated Kente Edition.
Hosted at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, the event celebrated the artistry and heritage of Ghana’s iconic Kente fabric through a spectacular fusion of fashion, music, and culture.
The evening kicked off with a vibrant green carpet session, where guests dazzled in breathtaking Kente-inspired ensembles. Attendees mingled, posed for photos, and soaked in the lively atmosphere before the main program began.
The show opened with an electrifying performance by rapper Edem, whose bold pink outfit and energetic delivery set the stage for a night to remember. Guided by charismatic hosts Jerry Adjorlolo and AJ Akuoko Sarpong, the evening unfolded with an array of engaging activities.
The runway became the centerpiece of the event, showcasing over 50 models and celebrities adorned in stunning Kente creations. Renowned Ghanaian designers, including Nadiaka, Odefille, Ophelia Crossland, Velma’s Millinery, Selina Beb, and Kustom Look Clothier, presented collections that celebrated the timeless beauty and versatility of Kente.
Musical performances added to the enchantment, with captivating sets from Amandzeba, Nat Brew, Kwabena Kwabena, Michael Stuckey, and Bibie Brew. A surprise appearance by VGMA Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy, thrilled the crowd. Using the platform to promote unity, he urged, “After the elections, Ghana must win. I love my peace.”
The night also honored creative arts icons for their contributions to Ghanaian culture. Celebrated personalities such as Agya Koo Nimo, Chief Dele Momodu, Bibie Brew, and Kwabena Kwabena received well-deserved accolades for their work in preserving and promoting Ghana’s cultural legacy.
Prominent figures, including Nana Ama McBrown, Akofa Edjeani Asiedu, Paulina Oduro, and Adina, graced the occasion, adding an extra layer of glamour to the night.
This year’s Kente Edition underscored the significance of preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage while demonstrating the immense creative potential of its fashion industry. Kente, a fabric synonymous with national pride, took center stage as a symbol of unity, tradition, and innovation.
