MUSIGA awards Jonathan McReynolds with honorary pro membership

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has honored Grammy-winning gospel artist Jonathan McReynolds by conferring upon him the Union’s prestigious professional membership. This recognition, part of MUSIGA’s initiative to support and empower professional musicians, was announced during a special ceremony on Tuesday at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The event coincided with the historic granting of Ghanaian citizenship to 524 diasporans by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Among the attendees were celebrated musicians, including the Tagoe Sisters and other MUSIGA members.

As part of the ceremony, a citation was presented to McReynolds, acknowledging his exceptional contributions to music and his role in promoting Ghanaian culture internationally. The citation, read by former MUSIGA President Diana Hopeson and presented by 1st Vice President Rev. Dr. Thomas Yawson, highlighted McReynolds’ dedication to his craft and his new role as an ambassador of Ghanaian heritage.

Diana Hopeson remarked, “Jonathan McReynolds embodies the spirit of our music community. His recognition as a Ghanaian citizen underscores our commitment to fostering global connections through music.”

Rev. Dr. Yawson added, “This citation celebrates not only Jonathan’s remarkable achievements but also MUSIGA’s mission to elevate Ghanaian music on the world stage. The Pro membership equips artists with the resources to thrive and amplify their impact.”

The MUSIGA Pro membership provides exclusive benefits such as workshops, networking events, and tailored resources for professional development. This initiative reinforces MUSIGA’s dedication to advancing the music industry and supporting its members in achieving global recognition.
