Mercy Ochere, known for her popular songs Blessed Be Your Name, Ma Nya Faahodi, and Yesu Be Ye Da, claimed the Worship Artiste of the Year title at MOGA 2024, surpassing strong competition, including Cece Mills, who was awarded Most Promising Artiste of the Year.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Mercy expressed heartfelt thanks to the organizers for the recognition and to her supportive fans in Ghana, whom she appreciates for their “home support” despite her UK base.
“This award is incredibly meaningful to me and serves as strong encouragement not to give up, knowing that people are following my work. I’m also grateful to my team for promoting my music in Ghana and to Ghanaians for embracing it,” she shared.
The Modern Gospel Awards (MOGA), established in 2021, shines a spotlight on lesser-known gospel musicians impacting the industry. This year’s event, hosted by Baffour Andoh, celebrated talent across various categories, including Praise Artiste of the Year, Famous Artiste of the Year, Crossbreed Artiste of the Year, and Sound Engineer of the Year.
Dinah Hammond received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while several notable gospel figures, including Dr. Maulana (founder of Ministry of Future), Empress Gifty, and Scott Evans, were also honored for their contributions.
