Afro-sound and ancestral wisdom are featured prominently in Mekra Mekra’s “Candle Light”

The composition of “Candle Light” begins with dissonant chord changes and intense key modulations, complemented by the majestic and trilling sound of Enam. Her high notes resonate with Africans in the diaspora, undeniably summoning their inner deities to attention.

“Would you believe, if I ever told you, if I ever told you, you are God, all the lies disregarded.”

Do you truly know who you are? If not, the song “Candle Light” will reveal your authentic self.

Following Enam’s captivating Afro-Spiritual sound are the rap verses of Mista Silva, a UK-born Ghanaian artist and a pioneer of Afro-beats in the UK. An award-winning and three-time MOBO-nominated artist, Mista Silva is well-respected in the music scene.

Also featured is Lyrical Joe, a Ghanaian-born rapper and songwriter whose EPs have made significant waves in the Ghanaian mainstream media. Additionally, Osofo Kojo Bentsir, the founder and Chief Priest of the organization ‘Mekra,’ is also part of the collaboration, helping to spread African culture across Europe, the UK, America, and beyond.

Invasion and indoctrination from the West have led to widespread miseducation, misguidance, and destruction in countries around the world, particularly affecting Africans on the continent and in the diaspora.

Once deeply rooted in their own traditions, customs, culture, and beliefs, many now struggle to recognize the essence of their true selves.

“Candle Light” emphasizes the importance of individuals and communities returning to the teachings of their ancestors. It asserts that understanding that “You are a God and the architect of your destiny” is crucial for awakening the African nations.

Africa, once a continent rich in culture, spirituality, and traditions—foundations of global civilization—has fallen prey to the demonization of ancestral practices stemming from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, followed by the imposition of restrictive dogmas and religions.

Historically, West Africans were, and still are, spiritual beings. Our ancestors comprehended the spiritual mysteries intertwined with science and the cosmos—understandings that the West is only now beginning to acknowledge.

“Candle Light” teaches us that our ancestors were far more advanced than often recognized, and that practices once deemed primitive by the West are now subjects of study. They understood that we are advanced beings having earthly experiences, capable of using elements like water, fire, air, and earth to connect with our cosmic ancestry and the revered creative forces that embody true life essence.

What did you create before choosing to come to this earthly realm? Death is not the end; it marks the beginning of transcendence into the spiritual realms. In this sense, death signifies shedding the façade of the material world to manifest the original intent, thought, and divine construct meant for you to connect with cosmic realms beyond your imagination.

In this reflection, the chorus of “Candle Light” resonates powerfully: You are GOD!
