The wait is finally over—Africa’s most anticipated DJ event, the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards powered by Smirnoff, has officially announced its launch date.
Organizers Merqury Republic revealed on Hitz FM that the 13th edition of the awards will be launched on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Luna Rooftop Bar in Airport City, Accra.
Merqury Quaye, the Creative Director of the event, expressed excitement about this year’s campaign, noting, “DJs have truly elevated their game this year. The culture is thriving, and we’re ready to reward their efforts.” He also hinted at major surprises and valuable prizes in store.
Under the theme “Shake the Floor,” this year’s edition celebrates DJs not just as entertainers but as cultural powerhouses with the ability to uplift and energize communities through sound.
The launch will kick off a series of pre-event activities leading to the grand finale on November 29, 2025, at the Palms Convention Center. These include Pub Fest, the Ladies Concert, the Nominees Jam, and the Ghana DJ Clinic—an educational initiative for DJs and music professionals. A behind-the-scenes TV series, Road to Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, airing on Joy Prime, and a national tour are also on the agenda.
This year’s edition promises electric performances from over a dozen top DJs and artistes, to be officially announced at the launch. A much-anticipated reggae sound clash between two of Ghana’s most iconic DJ groups will also headline the main event, paying homage to the genre’s Jamaican roots.
The countdown to shaking the floor officially begins on July 12, 2025.
