The 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff, was officially launched on Saturday, July 19, at Luna Rooftop Bar in Airport City. The event kickstarted the 13th edition of Africa’s biggest DJ honours scheme. This year’s theme is “Shake the Floor.”

The high-energy launch event was hosted by seasoned MCs Jay Foley and Michelle Agyekum. It attracted top names in Ghana’s creative industry. Notable guests included Gilbert Aggrey, also known as Abeiku Santana, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, and Mr. Ahumah ‘Daddy Bosco’ Ocansey, a board member of the awards. Both gave inspiring keynote addresses.
Several industry players showed strong support. Fameye, Eddy Blay, Streetbeatz, Mixmaster Garzy, Lali x Lola, OV, Nana Romeo, Kalybos, MC Yaa Yeboah, and influencer Tilly were all in attendance. Their presence confirmed the awards’ reputation as Africa’s leading DJ recognition platform.

The night featured incredible music experiences. DJ Pho, the reigning Event DJ of the Year, opened with a brilliant mix of classics. DJs Phantom and Sly King followed, turning up the energy even higher. Dancehall act Aklerh, Hiplife duo Keche, and Afrobeat artist Mopthy also performed live.
The launch aired live on Joy Prime. Organizers Merqury Republic revealed a packed calendar leading to the main event. The awards night is set for November 29, 2025, at the Palms Convention Center in La, Accra.
Before the main event, Pubfest will tour six regions. These include Greater Accra, Volta, Bono, Ashanti, Western, and Central. The regional roadshow will spotlight hidden DJ talent. It will also connect fans with their favourite DJs while celebrating music’s power to unite.

The 2025 calendar also includes DJ education. The Ghana DJ Clinic takes place in Takoradi on August 30 and in Accra on November 27. These sessions will train DJs and other creative professionals.
Merqury Quaye, Founder and Creative Director of the scheme, shared another highlight. The grand finale will feature a Jamaican-style sound clash segment on November 29.
Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Marketing Manager for Spirits and RTDs at Guinness Ghana, thanked the organizers. She applauded their effort to promote Ghanaian DJs globally. She also affirmed Guinness Ghana’s continued support for the festival and its impact.
With the launch complete, the journey to crown Ghana’s top DJs has officially begun. Fans can expect thrilling moments that spotlight talent and grow the music culture.
